Greenville Downtown Airport (GMU) Field Trips
For a $5 per person donation to Runway Park, the Greenville Downtown Airport will conduct and host a field trip for your group. This can be paid at the time of your visit. Cash or checks preferred. Checks should be made out to the Greenville Airport Commission.
Field trips rely on airport volunteers to help so we prefer to have groups of about 30 participants at a time.
Adult supervision is required. Please have enough adult chaperons for the number and age of the children that you bring.
For schools: If you have teachers and volunteers who are assisting, we will waive their $5 donation. Field trips are usually conducted Monday - Friday (excluding holidays) starting at 10 am and lasting about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
Advance reservations required. Airport reserves the right to cancel field trips at any time.
1. For all ages and group sizes: Field trips are conducted within and by Runway Park.
Features an aviation lesson and an opportunity to climb inside a real aircraft! THIS FIELD TRIP IS OUTSIDE SO IT IS WEATHER DEPENDENT. IF WEATHER IS PREDICTED TO BE BAD ON YOUR SCHEDULED FIELD TRIP DAY, YOU WILL NEED TO RESCHEDULE YOUR VISIT.
2. For groups consisting of rising 6th graders (usually means 11- 12 year olds) and older: Field trips start in the Main Terminal's Lobby located at 100 Tower Drive, Greenville, SC 29607. See location map for directions: http://www.greenvilledowntownairport.com/DirectionsVicinityMap.html
Locations visited may vary due to availability, but we try to include: Information about aviation careers, an opportunity to climb inside a real aircraft,
visiting the air traffic control tower (Due to Coronavirus concerns, all national airport control tower tours have been suspended until further notice), meeting a pilot and learning about the Greenville Downtown Airport.
On nice weather days, many groups like to go to Runway Park after their visit. See: http://www.greenvilledowntownairport.com/RunwayParkatGMU.html for details. You can reserve the picnic hangar and bring lunch if you want.
