Please consider supporting the capital building campaign to renovate a military style Butler building into a Military History Museum.

The building is located at 14 Airport Road Ext, Greenville, SC 29607.  The building is adjacent to the Greenville Downtown Airport’s Runway Park, within a block of the Swamp Rabbit Trail extension that is under construction, and is an ideal location to engage the community, honor veterans and provide easy access for school students and veterans in the Upstate to see history come to life.  The building needs a lot of work to transform it into a museum for students of all levels and for the public.  It will be a place where veterans can bring their families to teach them about the history that they experienced.

MHCC volunteers completely gutted the building.  Thanks to the generous companies and individuals listed below phase one of the museum is complete and we have a Certificate of Occupancy for the building!

MHCC is now
seeking the funds and donated services necessary for phase two, which will include creating interactive displays that can immerse visitors and school children in history.

The goal is to set up a special place where people can see history come to life, touch historical items, and not just view them in a glass case, and at the same time make connections with soldiers who defended our freedom.  MHCC has members with a wealth of experience in running museums and nonprofit organizations, and MHCC has many talented people who know how to make history exciting for visitors of all ages.  MHCC has military vehicles, armaments, historical period attire, communications equipment, books and everything else that is needed to fill a museum; but, it needs your support to renovate the building for its’ new use and we are always looking for interesting historical artifacts to add to our displays.

MHCC is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt organization by the IRS so donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law and is a non-profit corporation in the state of SC.  Donations can be mailed to MHCC, 100 Tower Drive, Unit 6, Greenville, SC 29607.  For more information contact Wayne Scholtes at wlscholtes@charter.net or 864-978-0780.  Credit Card?  Click here to donate using Paypal.

MHCC NEEDS YOUR HELP! Would you be willing to donate items to go on display at the future MHCC Military History Museum?   Vehicles (they do not need to be operational), uniforms, armaments and other interesting items from WWI, WWII, Korean War and Vietnam are especially sought after since no other museums in our area have a large showing of these items.

Also... If you have any military items that may not be old or rare enough for the museum displays but you would be willing to donate them so we can sell them to raise money for the museum... We would love to have them. The museum will have a gift shop and we also plan to occasionally host a Military Items Sale! Please pass this information on to everyone you know with military items that might be interested in helping.  Military items from any time period and any country.

Items can be dropped off at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, 116A S. Pleasantburg Dr., Greenville, SC 29607.  They are open Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.  Drop off questions?  Please call 864-233-5288 or email greenville@erau.edu

Thanks goes out to these individuals and companies who have donated or pledged their financial support;  given items to the museum; or volunteered hours or professional services in their names or in the name of others to help create the MHCC
Military History Museum.
