Annual Reoccurring Events
GMU Get Togethers are monthly
This event is typically hosted on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 5pm-7pm behind the terminal building. People in the airport community used to network and socialize after work.
This once a month event gives an organized excuse to get together and do that once again. It is cheaper than a therapist and a good way to talk with other aviation enthusiasts about things that are going on. We invite a food and beverage truck. Sponsors of the event are always welcome.
Aviation Week in April
South Carolina Aviation Week is an annual, week-long celebration, promoting aviation through events that highlight airports’ educational and economic impacts throughout the state.

We host students to highlight aviation opportunities at GMU. We partner our flight schools and schools with aviation programs in the area, like the CTE Innovation Center and Greenville Tech Charter High School, for the opportunity to take a discovery flight.
Take Flight 5k and 1 mile Run in May
Our annual Take Flight 5k and 1 mile run is the flattest and best run in the Upstate. This fundraiser for Runway Park raises money for additional playground equipment and maintenance. The park was created with money from the community for the community. This run is held early Saturday morning of Memorial Day weekend every year.
We want share our love of aviation with you. There are big plans in our Community Corridor that include partnering with the City of Greenville to build a skate park and pump track on the airport. This addition will like to the Swamp Rabbit Trail.
Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Walk in August
This event is typically the 3rd Saturday in August. Participants gathered every year to pick up foreign object debris (FOD) from the runway. This annual FOD Walk highlights that debris on a runway can exponentially damage planes and injure airport workers when thrown from a propellor or jet wash.
This is one of two times a year that the Greenville Downtown Airport offers a unique opportunity to be on the runways and network with others.
Warbird Weekend in October
Warbird weekend is the first weekend in October. Historic planes put on a static aviation display and show for the public. Free to attend. You can pay to ride in a historic plane. We have had B17 bombers, Ford Trimotor, and T6 Texans over the years. Historic military vehicles from the MHCC Military History Museum, Civil Air Patrol, Greenville City Fire Department, Greenville Sheriff, other hands on events from various vendors were all on display!
